Board Care

To get the best performance and longevity from your board, a little care goes a long way. Below are our recommendations to help protect your Infront Surfcraft board from avoidable damage, whether you’re training, racing or transporting it across the coast.

WEATHER PROTECTION
Extended exposure to heat and sun can damage your board, so:

  • Store out of direct sunlight whenever possible.
  • Never leave your board deck-up in the sun – always face it down. Excessive heat may cause delamination of the fibreglass or shrinkage of knee pads.
  • If your board features darker colours, it will heat faster. Use towels or covers to help insulate it.
  • Use a reflective cover for storage — but avoid leaving the board zipped inside it in direct sun, as heat can still build up.
  • Wet your board down every 30 minutes on hot days to cool it.
  • Secure your board in the wind or position it into the prevailing breeze to reduce risk of damage.

Dragging your board will wear through paint and fibreglass, especially at the tail.Apply rail tape to protect corners. Available through us directly or at most surf shops.

Always rinse with fresh water after each use. Salt and sand will degrade the finish over time.

Use a board bag or cover when travelling especially on roof racks.
Use flat tie-down straps with plastic/rubber buckles. Avoid metal buckles, ropes, ratchets or elastic straps, which can cause pressure dings or cracks.

Do not use your board if it’s been damaged or has taken on water.
Remove it from the water immediately and let it fully drain and dry before seeking repair.
Contact your local surf club or Infront Surfcraft for advice on trusted local repairers.
